Goddamn Bowl America-was FuriousGeorge's Bday 101802 -- This is what happens when people are in desperate need of some bowling, and no one knows where the nearest OPEN alley is. Gnicklaser can elaborate. Paintball AU vs GW 101902 -- We won. Well, with the help of some defectors from the g-dub crew ;) The Weng Room 102202 -- Note the infamous vocab list... Embassy-BantayBataPractice 102302 -- Really just informational on how our venue for the charity benefit looks like... ASA Outing - FrightHouse 102602 -- Decent fun for 10 bucks. Thanks ASA :) but, ugh, what a crappy movie there was at the end. Gnick's Cam AKA Faykn Sk8r Dudes 102602 -- Filled w/ energy, some of us, namely Thepinklamb, Gnicklaser, FuriousGeorge, and Starlightgloom f'd around on the choice jumps and walls in the alley following Rome's party... Rome's Birthday 102602 -- Interesting night, great venue! Happy Birthday Rome :) IHOP 102702 -- After the fayk sk8ng, we recharged with a bit of midnight nourishment... Welcome Back, Tastee Oh, how we missed thee and your charming, customer-molesting waitresses....:: Monday, October 21, 2002 :: Catchup sorry for the delay, but the pics for the following events are finally up :P Kalamela's Coming of Pimposity --where great fun and debauchery was had by all ^_- Happy B-day Kalamela! Ren Faire --where we were able to fit 3 hrs of mead, ale, beer, turkey legs, tower climbing, bumpy sliding and archery and The Romeo Candido Karaoke Show --one of the many events of the APA Film Festival, live music from different groups of Asian persuasion, like Th Girl @ Th Bus Stop! Ended on a downer, as news of the latest victim of the DC sniper flooded in...:: Wednesday, October 16, 2002 :: *sigh* ... so, i'm like on my 4th treo now.... ...:: Friday, October 11, 2002 :: Some Nights... ...you just never know what's going to happen. I was all ready and set to go w/ filipina526 to push our charity culture show at a meeting that turned out to not be a meeting, and therefore not a good venue to be advertising in, so we called it quits on that plan. So, I find myself heading to starlightgloom early, for another Nadia-filled night. Then I find out that pinaypril stole her away to the APA Film Festival opening, which is showing Lolo's Child, a Filipino-American produced film. I turn around, and head downtown. Glad I did too, cuz everyone was there! Anorakgirl, who I haven't seen since Black Cat (and still has my Gunbuster tapes...grrr), was there, everyone from the M.A.N. residence was there, and friends, and good ol' Chinaspice, who I really really haven't seen in awhile; she'd been working on the festival! good job. Got to hang out w/ the creator of the film afterwards in china-block and _finally_ ate dinner. Got home LATE. much later than anticipated, but oh well, sleep is for the dead.:: Tuesday, October 08, 2002 :: One More! Nadia left on a big cliff-hanger last nite. Serves Pinaypril and Starlightgloom right; we could've ended it an episode early, but they wanted to trudge on and do one more episode! ha! Story's getting more and more intense and the plot thickens! Warned them last nite tho; the dreaded island episodes are still to come. They're basically filler episodes, with some poor animation and storylines, but if i remember correctly, they were fun nonetheless :) Nice tidbit that I just found out this morning: *Hayao Miyazaki did the outline for the series. Nice. *is responsible for producing, directing many classics, such as Kiki's Delivery Service, Totoro, Nausicaa, Laputa, Princess Mononoke, and most recently, Spirited Away. Coupled w/ the animation geniuses at Gainax, who did Evangelion, FLCL, KareKano, Gunbuster, etc, it's no wonder why the series is so good....imo ^_-:: Monday, October 07, 2002 :: Fushigi No Umi No Nadia I finally received all of the Nadia DVDs last week, and in true form, have started watching them all! Me and Starlightgloom are finished with 16 episodes already, and are thoroughly hooked. We're actually thinking of watching quite a few more tonite again! yay! I was poignantly reminded last nite why i loved the series so much. The heart-wrenching death scenes coupled with the general silliness that ensues, would be nothing were it not for the strong character development in the series. The series drags sometimes, but not for long before you're taken for another emotional roller-coaster. I really have the urge to read 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne now, which the series is based off of. Favorite Nadia Moment: Marie, an infectiously cute little girl of about 3 or 4, is out playing with King, Nadia's pet baby lion. Upon finding railroad tracks on a supposedly uninhabited island, they proceed to play choo-choo train. After a bit, they decide they are bored and run back along the tracks to go home, only to find the tracks split into two possible routes. Unhindered by her obliviousness to which direction she came from, she uses a stick to help point the way. Only to find another split in the tracks. This happens a couple more times, until she finally hits a part in the tracks where there are 6 or more splits, at which point she exclaims, "OH, MY GOD!" in English. We were watching the original Japanese voice-acting.:: Tuesday, October 01, 2002 :: Verdict Is In As long as I don't get in anymore trouble w/ the law for the next 90 days, my record should stay clean. Judge was kind, slapped me on the wrist for my, unbeknownst to me, illegal act of having an open container at the beach. 20 dollar fine, plus 55 court costs, and 8 bucks surcharge for paying by credit card...hey, waitaminute. That comes to 83$! I thought I was getting off light! wtf?! Quix got off even lighter. His officer never showed up. All charges dropped, no fine. bastard! oh well, he did have to go up twice, cuz he forgot what his court date was, hehe. Last Straw Ok, that's it. I know that Foxhall can take 30 min+, so why do I insist on taking it every morning? No more! I'm taking Chain Bridge in. >:( I even left early...
